A very sad occassion for musicians and music fans. He will be very much missed. Thoughts go to his family…

Noone cared more about music and musicians than JP. Yesterday was a sad, sad day and we just sat around the sitting room listeing to bands we first heard on his show.

Gutted about this, Jon. Everyone I meet in Nottingham is starting the conversation with this news. John had recently been promoting one of our local bands – even giving them a Peel Session. He was one of life’s great enthusiasts, with real integrity and the courage of his own convictions.

It’s particularly sad, and we’re all upset here…

It’s amazing how someone who we never even meet in person can be missed so much. The BBC was figuratively flying the flag at half mast yesterday.

Must listen to Teenage Kicks … for JP!

It was such a shock, such a loss. Top DJ, top man. When you listened to him, you felt he was talking with you, not talking at you. I can’t think of another DJ in the UK that has done as much for new bands as John Peel.

As a fellow Liverpool suporter I enjoyed how he never hid his support, it was another thing that made him a person not just a voice.

His influence will live on in music lover’s hearts everywhere

I was quite upset, I really had hoped some day to meet him, I really do wish he had finished his book.

Perhaps one day the bbc might release “every john peel show ever” oh a terrabyte disk or something.

Does the link there to this page make for an infinite loop?

Mr. John Peel had that gutt feeling. He knew which music should be brought to our ears. Of course many people have that gift but he was a pioneer. The live Peel sessions on the radio were a great initiative. Bands like Siouxie and the Banshees, the Cure, etc… all came to visit Peel in a stage of their carreer.
a great guy for music, our Peel …
