25.03.04 Quicksilver for OS X

Having just read about Quicksilver on What do I know? I did as I was bidden by Todd Dominey and ran to download it, but trying to keep my ‘balanced view’ head on.

Quite simply, I am absolutely stunned. If you have Panther, you need Quicksilver. Truly amazing.

Rather than pollute the blog pool with my own post on the same topic I'll just second that endorsement here.

Quicksilver's ability to browse your iTunes library and it's history-enabled clipboard are spectacular. I've already put in a request for the next version to include an attached iPod's library in the browse feature. ;D

Quicksilver simply blows LaunchBar out of the water.

Shaun - I know what you mean. I do try to avoid repeating everyone else, its dull to keep read the same subjects.

Having said that - I couldn't help it. QS is just too good! :o)

I'm definitely not faulting you Jon. I was going to do the same until I saw your post!

I like LaunchBar a lot, but QuickSilver looks like it could be even better. The UI is very slick - I'm looking forward to playing around with it tomorrow.

There are tons of "hidden" (or at least not well advertised) features in QS.
Try to type a quote (") -> you get an editable field. You can send this text field to the pasteboard, but also to a service like AppendNote ( http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11537 ). This is awsome.
Did you notice that the window in Bezel view is actually a split view ?

There's also Buttler (fka Another Launcher).

It can be customised and the result is very clean and powerful. So far I'm not impressed with QS.

ha, at first i thought you were talking about the neil stephenson book (book #1 in the baroque cycle), and i was wondering why it was available to download from a software company's website...
