20.09.09 Widescreen hack for Yojimbo 2

Thanks to this tip on editing compiled .nib files, I’ve finally been able to re-instate the widescreen hack for Yojimbo 2. With the new Tag Explorer, this makes a total of 4 possible vertical panes, so it may not suit you as well as it did for version 1, but I still prefer it.
Download
Installation
This hack is for Yojimbo v2 only. Please make sure you update before installing this hack.
Backup Yojimbo first. Nothing bad should happen, but belt-and-braces, you know? Also, if you get sick of this view and want the old one back, just replace it with the backup. Also, this hack will stop working at the next Yojimbo update.
To install, ctrl-click on Yojimbo.app in the Finder, choose ‘Show Package Contents’ from the context menu. Navigate to /Contents/Resources/English.lproj/ and replace the OGMainWindow.nib file with the one in the download.
Also, if you’re interested in a change of icon, I’ve been using the beautiful Edo icon set as replacements:

Incredible. I was futzing about thinking “oh I wish this was widescreen like aaron’s “Letterbox” hack for mail”. Then netnewswire pinged. And there was your hack. Thank you — the telepathy was a nice touch.

Fantastic! Thanks Jon. YoJimbo 2 has felt like a huge downgrade up until now.

Lovely!
I’ve actually come around to Yojimbo after having used Evernote and DevonThink Pro. Not quite sure yet what I dig so much about it — who knows, maybe it’s not having my personal crap in the cloud as much.
Had a question for you, though, Jon:
Any idea if there’s a way to define — and have Yojimbo remember — the window size when you double-click on an item and open it up in its own window?
Am continually annoyed that, unlike something like Mail.app, it forgets the standard window size for items when I spawn them in their own.
Thanks again!

Yojimbo remembers custom sizes for a particular item, but not as a general preference. This is probably something you could hack if you were willing to to find the right .nib file, following the tip linked to above

Sweet. I’ll give it a whirl.
